LOCAL ROOTS, READY TO LEAD.

District 5

Vote by November 3rd

"Santa Barbara is my home, but the Santa Barbara I grew up in is slipping out of reach for too many of us. I'm running for City Council to deliver affordable housing, safer streets, and a local economy that works for all of us." - Ian Baucke

Meet Ian

A local voice for a city that
works.

Born at Cottage Hospital and a proud product of our local public schools, Ian Baucke has spent his career making government work for people at every level. He worked to deliver federal economic recovery funding for local governments, helps constituents navigate state government every day, and leads Santa Barbara's Transportation and Circulation Committee.

Now he's running for City Council to bring that same focus to Santa Barbara's most pressing challenge: building a city where teachers, firefighters, essential workers, and seniors can actually afford to live and thrive.

Priorities

Solutions for Santa Barbara

Affordable Housing

Santa Barbara's affordability crisis demands an all-of-the-above approach: dedicated funding for affordable units, workforce housing on underused City properties, missing-middle options for families, streamlined permitting, and support for renters and homeowners alike.

Sustainability and Resilience

Santa Barbara is a leader of the environmental movement and Ian will keep it that way. He'll invest in wildfire resilience, implement the City's Climate Action Plan, protect our urban forest, support sea level rise adaptation, and double down on investments in clean energy, water conservation, and green building.

Safe Streets

As Chair of the City's Transportation and Circulation Committee, Ian knows what it takes to deliver traffic safety projects. He'll push for a realistic path to Vision Zero, expand transit and bike options, modernize traffic management, and secure dedicated funding to implement our Safe Streets for All and Safe Routes to School plans.
